Who we are
Mellix Limited is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17551068. Its registered office is at 1 Parkside Court, Greenhough Road, Lichfield WS13 7FE. This site, the console and the Decision API are run by Mellix Limited, and it is the company that sells API credit; "we" and "us" in these terms mean Mellix Limited.
Using this site
This site describes Mellix and its decision models. It lets you try a hosted model in the playground, read the documentation, check the service status and contact us. You are welcome to browse it and share it. Please do not try to disrupt it, overload it or use it for anything unlawful.
The playground
The playground sends what you type to a hosted model and shows its answer. The answers can be wrong, so please do not rely on them for anything important, and do not use the playground to make decisions about people. It limits how many decisions each visitor can make, so please do not try to get round those limits. The playground is provided only for trying our service through this site.
Our models
Models we make available to download, such as the CPU models in the console, are governed by the licence that comes with each one, not by these terms.
The Decision API
These terms also cover the Decision API at api.mellix.com, its documentation, and any API key we or our console issue to you. If you have a separate written agreement with us, that agreement wins where the two differ.
Keys. A key is for you or your organisation only. Keep it secret, on a server, never in a web page or an app, and tell us at once if it leaks. You are responsible for use of your keys. We may revoke a key that is shared, leaked or misused.
Limits. Each key has a limit on requests a minute. Do not try to get round it, for example by spreading traffic across several keys or accounts. Higher limits come by agreement with us.
Your data. The API does not store the states, questions or answers you send, except in a batch: the Batch API keeps a batch's lines and results, encrypted, on servers in Canada until they are deleted, as its documentation describes. It records, per key, the time, status, number of requests and number of input tokens, so we can apply limits, show you your usage and bill credit. Only send personal data if you have a lawful basis to do so.
Answers. Answers are probabilities from a model and can be wrong. You decide how to use them, including which answers to act on and which to send to a person. Do not use the API to make decisions about people that have legal or similarly significant effects without meaningful human review where the law requires it.
Paying. The API is paid for with prepaid credit, bought in advance in our console. Credit is used up as you use the API, by the input tokens your requests send, at the tariff published on our site when the request is made (for a batch, when each of its lines is answered). We never charge after use. Prices on our site exclude VAT, which is added when you buy credit.
Credit. Credit you buy does not expire. It is not refundable, except where the law requires a refund. When your balance reaches zero, your keys stop working and requests are refused until you top it up.
Promotional credit. We sometimes give credit through a promotional or trial code. Promotional credit has no cash value and cannot be refunded, exchanged for money or transferred. Each code can be redeemed once per organisation, and a code may be limited to particular people, to a number of uses or to a date by which it must be redeemed. Promotional credit may carry an expiry date, shown on the Billing page of the console; any of it left unused on that date is removed. Your requests use promotional credit before credit you have bought, the credit that expires soonest first. We may withdraw promotional credit, and close a code, if it was obtained or used in breach of these terms, for example by creating several accounts to redeem a code more than once.
Availability. We aim to keep the API running but do not promise it will be available or error-free, and we may change it, limit it or stop it, with notice where we reasonably can. Its live status is on our status page.
Outputs and limitations
What an answer is. Our models, including the Myles-G family, return a probability for each option you give them. These are predictions made by software, not statements of fact, and any answer can be wrong, including answers given with high probability.
Accuracy is not guaranteed. We publish how our models perform on the tests we name, and we work to keep their probabilities calibrated, meaning that options given a probability of about 0.9 are right about 90% of the time across many decisions on data like the data we tested. That is a statement about many decisions on average, not about any single one, and it can be weaker on data unlike our tests. We do not promise that any answer, or any rate of correct answers on your data, will be achieved.
Not professional advice. Answers are not legal, financial, tax, medical, safety or compliance advice, and we do not provide advisory services. Do not treat an answer as a substitute for advice from a qualified person.
Your decisions are yours. You decide which questions to ask, what to send, which answers to act on and what happens as a result. You are responsible for checking that the way you use our models is suitable and lawful for your purpose, for testing it on your own cases before relying on it, and for the decisions you or your systems make with the answers.
Keep a person in the loop. For decisions that could significantly affect a person, their money, health, safety, rights or access to services, or that are regulated, have a suitably qualified person review the answer before it is acted on, and keep a record of how decisions were made. Do not rely on an answer alone in those cases.
Outputs are generated by AI. If you show answers, or anything based on them, to other people, make it clear where the law or fairness requires that they come from an automated system.
Acceptable use
Do not use the API, the playground or our models to:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- deceive, defraud, harass or discriminate against people, or target individuals for surveillance;
- make or support decisions about weapons, or about people's access to essential services, without the human review the law requires;
- disrupt, overload or test the security of our services without our written permission;
- resell or give others access to the API without an agreement with us;
- use the answers to train or measure a competing model, or to copy our models.
We may suspend or close an account, or revoke keys, that break these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law or security stops us.
Forward-looking content
Examples on this site describe the kinds of models we are working on. They are illustrative, not commitments about specific features, performance or availability. Results we publish describe the builds and tests named next to them.

Liability
The site, the playground and the API are provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
In particular, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that results from an answer being wrong, incomplete or unsuitable, or from a decision made or not made in reliance on an answer, and we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, data or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
Where we are liable to you under or in connection with these terms, our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us for API credit in the 12 months before the event that caused the loss.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
